Jump on Board

Our story is about true connection, and we are here so people will always be able to share in the true taste and rare magic of New Zealand’s best seafood.

We have a great opportunity for someone to jump on board one of our barges and learn the ropes of oyster farming. Working in an established team, this is a unique opportunity to develop skills and capability both on and off the pristine waters of the Coromandel

These roles are rare, so if you are an aspiring Aquaculture Farm Worker, or you have experience working on an oyster or mussel farm and are keen to work for a future thinking, growing business we would like to hear from you. Most importantly you will have a great attitude and work ethic, be reliable, keen to learn and be a team player.

This role is a gateway to grow your career, and step towards becoming a certificate skipper, Leading Hand and/or Supervisor.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, with day-to-day responsibilities allocated by the Farm Supervisor, the focus of this role is as follows:

  • Support daily farming operations and working as part of a crew to undertake farm, yard and shed duties
  • Assemble oyster baskets for flip farm systems
  • Undertake farm and harvesting duties of oysters
  • Repair and clean oyster baskets and bags
  • Repairs and maintenance of all racks/lines/baskets used in operations.
  • To undertake general labouring duties, Food Safety procedures, Personal Hygiene and all other duties required as prescribed by the Risk Management Plan (RMP)

 Make Your Mark

You must be able to demonstrate you are reliable, respectful, and hard working. You need to be flexible and easy to work with, and no job being too small or big for you to tackle and become the best at doing.

Key criteria:

  • Ideally you will come from a farming background; aquaculture/beef & sheep/dairy and be keen to learn and develop skills and capability in an oyster farm operation
  • Commitment to Health & Safety
  • Task orientated, with track record for delivering agreed outcomes on time
  • Full & Clean NZ Driver’s License and transport to/from work

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career at Moana. It is advantageous if you have a Skipper’s Licence.

Please send your resume and cover letter to C/o Moana NZ’s Recruitment Team at recruitment@moana.co.nz and in the subject box please put the job title.

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand. Our recruitment process includes pre-employment checks including criminal, drug and alcohol testing, and a medical assessment.
